Prism basics
- What is Paramora Prism™?
Paramora Prism™ is a Windows plugin for Autodesk Navisworks Manage. It exports a coordinated model locally to open and downstream formats while keeping scope, target settings, validation and reporting in one workflow.
- Which systems and Navisworks editions are supported?
Prism requires 64-bit Windows 10 build 17763 or later and Autodesk Navisworks Manage 2025, 2026 or 2027. Navisworks Freedom and Simulate are not supported.
- Where do I download and open Prism?
Download the signed per-user installer only from the Paramora Prism™ page on neo-built.com. After installation, open a supported Navisworks Manage release and choose Neobuilt, then Paramora Prism™ on the ribbon.
- How is the Prism workspace organized?
Simplified view keeps routine choices together. Advanced view separates Selection, Models, Target, Geometry, Data, Checks and Review so an operator can inspect the effective scope and settings before export.
- Does Prism upload my Navisworks model?
No. Prism reads and exports the model on the workstation. Account sign-in, entitlement checks and update metadata use Neobuilt services, but the source model is not uploaded for conversion.
Export workflows
- Which output formats does Prism support?
Depending on the plan, Prism can write IFC STEP, ifcZIP and ifcXML, OBJ/MTL, STL, FBX, glTF/GLB, DXF, OpenUSD and 3D Tiles. Choose the target for the receiving application rather than treating the formats as interchangeable.
- What is the difference between Standard Export and Ultra Fast Export?
Standard Export reads the active Navisworks document, including its current state and detailed model data. Ultra Fast Export requires Ultra access and reads a saved NWD with no unsaved changes. Names and properties may be incomplete and should be verified. If eligibility or validation checks fail, the export stops and reports the reason; it does not switch automatically to Standard Export.
- Can I export only part of the model?
Yes. Available scope controls include the whole federation, current selection, visibility, model branches, saved or search sets, exclusions and the current section. Some advanced scope controls require Pro or higher.
- How do I configure export profiles?
Configure export settings in the Simplified or Advanced workspace. A general preset selector is not available. Select an installed company profile when available. The Lightweight, Web Balanced and High Fidelity profiles are available in the dedicated 3D Tiles selector.
- Does an STL export guarantee a watertight, printable model?
No. STL stores triangles and does not carry BIM semantics. Prism can validate structural properties of the output, but printability and watertightness depend on source geometry and downstream preparation. Inspect and repair the mesh in the intended fabrication tool.
- What does validation check?
Checks vary by target and plan. Prism can verify structural output, geometry and counts, surface warnings and, for eligible IFC workflows, IDS requirements. The report records the resolved configuration and findings; the receiving application remains the final interoperability check.
- Does CUDA change the export result?
No. The optional CUDA component can accelerate geometry hashing and instancing on very large meshes, but the CPU result remains authoritative. Measure a representative workflow before making it part of a deployment standard.
Plans and access
- What is included in the Prism Free evaluation?
The current Free evaluation lasts 30 days and allows one machine, up to 10,000 elements per export and a source size of up to 25 MiB. It includes IFC4 and OBJ with basic scope, baseline semantics and a summary. Paid plans increase limits and add capabilities as shown on the pricing page.
- Why is a format or control locked?
Available formats and controls depend on your active plan and device activation. Confirm the signed-in account, plan, licence expiry and device status, then refresh the account. Organization or managed access may also depend on an active assigned seat.
- Can Prism work offline?
After a transient connection loss, signed-in Prism access can continue for a bounded grace period that depends on the grant. Revoked or expired access cannot be extended by the grace period. Separately issued offline or air-gapped licensing is an Ultra deployment option arranged with Neobuilt; ordinary cached credentials are not an offline license.
Support and trust
- What should I collect before opening a Prism support case?
Record product and version, Navisworks and Windows versions, exact error and time zone, target, scope, Standard or Fast mode, expected and actual results, steps already tried, validation report and copied diagnostics summary. Do not send passwords, tokens or a customer model unless support arranges an appropriate transfer.
- How do I get help or report a vulnerability?
Use the help centre for product, account and billing guidance, or submit a support request. Report suspected security vulnerabilities using the dedicated security contact listed on the security page.
