What Fast Export changes

Ultra Fast Export changes only how Prism captures a saved NWD. It decodes the saved file out of process and then builds the same neutral snapshot used by Standard Export. The common engine, target writers, semantics, validation and reports remain authoritative.

Eligibility checklist

  • The verified entitlement grants Ultra and Fast Model Read.
  • The active document is an existing saved .nwd file with no unsaved changes.
  • The Fast helper and required signed components are available.
  • Prism can prove sufficient geometry coverage, world registration, fragment ownership and hierarchy scope.
  • Every selected scope feature can be represented from the saved NWD and live state required for that scope.

If an eligibility check fails, Ultra Fast Export stops and reports the reason. To continue with Standard Export, turn off Ultra Fast Export explicitly and review the configuration.

Supported scope and outputs

Fast supports whole federations, current selection, saved/search sets, source exclusions, live visibility, separate output per model and Current section when its scope and placement checks pass. It feeds the same IFC, OBJ/MTL, STL, FBX, glTF/GLB, DXF, OpenUSD and 3D Tiles writers.

Fidelity differences to assess

  • Fast reads the saved NWD, so save all intended model, visibility and appearance changes first.
  • Names and properties may be incomplete on the Fast path. Validate required property families against Standard Export on representative models.
  • Fast stable identifiers can differ from Standard identifiers. Do not switch paths mid-delivery when downstream joins depend on prior IDs.
  • Saved appearance is available; unsaved persistent live overrides are not.
  • Current section uses an isolated reduced saved view and native clipping; Prism stops if it cannot prove the selection and placement.

Recommended workflow

  1. Save all model changes

Save the NWD and confirm Navisworks reports no unsaved changes.

  2. Test a representative scope

Compare Fast and Standard results for geometry, alignment, names, properties and stable-ID-dependent workflows.

  3. Enable Fast on an approved profile

Keep the target, resolved configuration and checks identical so the read path is the only deliberate change.

  4. Review the extraction report

Confirm the report records Fast extraction and review any identity-confidence or best-effort warnings.

  5. Use Standard Export when required

Turn Fast off explicitly when live unsaved state or Standard identity continuity is required.
