What you will produce
This quickstart exports a small, known selection to IFC4 STEP with Standard Export. That conservative path makes it easy to verify scale, location, geometry and properties before you export an entire federation.
Prepare the Navisworks model
- Open the reviewed NWD or NWF in Navisworks Manage and wait for appended models to finish loading.
- Resolve any missing-reference warning before exporting an NWF. Prism exports what Navisworks can currently resolve.
- Select a small group whose size, location and expected properties you can recognize in the receiving tool.
- Save changes if you intend to test Ultra Fast Export later. Standard Export can read the live document.
Run the export
Open Prism and choose IFC
On the Neobuilt ribbon tab, open Paramora Prism™ and choose IFC on the format home screen.
Set Current selection
In Selection or Models, choose Current selection and confirm the displayed count is not zero. Leave hidden items excluded unless they are deliberately part of the deliverable.
Use the default settings
Use IFC4 ADD2 TC1, STEP, Standard Export and the settings shown by default. Do not enable recognition or custom coordinates for the first run.
Choose the destination
Use a new writable folder with enough free space. Give the file a short project-specific name and avoid overwriting an approved deliverable.
Review, then export
Open Review, confirm scope, target, output path and checks, then start the export. Keep Navisworks open until the export has completed, failed or been cancelled.
Verify the result
- Open the generated IFC in the intended receiving application, not only in the authoring environment.
- Check overall size, up direction, origin and relative alignment against a known reference.
- Inspect at least one object from each represented discipline for geometry, name, class and expected properties.
- Read the validation summary. Resolve errors before delivery and assess every warning against the project requirement.
- Keep the report beside the exported model so reviewers can identify the scope, settings and result.
